I'm glad all the fans grew up though, they both came out of the closet publicly and bought a house together and it didn't turn out to be a big shit storm, these two had a strong grip on me for years during the height of their popularity so years later checking their twitters and instas to see how their doing and seeing them post selfies together still and being general friends/lovers is pretty heart warming and a good end to their 'story'

anyways i was one of the deranged schizo dan and phil fujos in middle school. looking back their content wasnt even that good but the gay shit that would pop up in their videos from time to time would make up for it. all of the batshit insane AUs that people would come up with for their fics and art were so OOC that it was kind of hilarious but i liked it anyways. even some of the biggest artists in the phandom at the time shamelessly drew and posted porn of them on their tumblr blogs

Too bad Cry turned out to be a piece of shit, this ship was really good. First time I saw Dream smp or whatever you call it fanart I got confused because I thought these pesky kids were making fanart of Cry even after being exposed for being an absolute animal.

I've been getting into spanish youtubers lately like Ibai, alexbyy, rubius etc. With rubius I was surprised to find he has quite a lot of fujo fans going as back as 2013-2012 even though his audience is majority male. Anyway, what I've been able to understand through google translate and the youtube automatic translator is that he had a ship called rubelangel with a roommate he had and that it was big in like 2012-2015, attached video is them reading a fanfic straight up like a BLCD (warning for 2014 style cringe). Anyone from the spanish community could tell more about the ships there? I’m interested.

Josh Hayes and Callum Upton keep joking about having shipfic written about them and I suppose there must be SOME if they keep bringing it up, but I can't find any. It's getting annoying, I just want to read about them making out, come on.

My best friend back when I was 13 was one of those people. She was convinced that they where secretly gay and would overanalyze everthing they said and did. I thought she was being bizarre back then but looking back I just find it weirdly endearing. I know that speculating about real people's sexualities gains you nothing but as anon said in dan and phill's case it luckily didn't end in a shitstorm

Any of you guys remember Markimash? I watched their Slendytubbies videos all the time when I was, like, 9, and shipped them HARD.

Aside from that, there was a pairing from a lesser known youtuber that I liked. I really liked Evan Edinger x Luke Cutforth. If you don't know, Evan Edinger is an American youtuber who makes videos about living in the UK. He had Luke as a guest a couple times and I really liked their chemistry.

I remember hardcore shipping COD YouTubers years ago. Ancient, ancient ships of mine: MrTLexify/TheSmithPlays and H2OVanoss. I remember reading 12 Months of Fall and falling in love with the ship. H2OToonz, too.

I might get called unhinged for this, but Steven Crowder and Not Gay Jared. I believe Steven is definitely gay, his nickname for Jared was 100% projection, and Jared suddenly quit without explanation because he found out Steven's true feelings for him.

I have no one I really ship him with but I'm crazy obsessed with Tim Rogers. He's so interesting.

I wish centricide was still relevant, I'm a sucker for humanized concepts like Hetalia or Countryhumans. Centricide being politics focused made it stand out in a different way. Lots of interesting possible dynamics between the characters.

already know martin which is great… around the same time he had his comeup, hamzah was another tiktok irony funnyguy who made his fame with 4freakshow, a quarantine-era tiktok friend group and later zoom twitch comedy show. hamzah reached out to martin first and now they do youtube with a whole team behind them, including chase rutherford who was in freakshow. claire was aaaalso in freakshow, and now her and hamzah have just hardlaunched each other. they met when they were 15 and 18 respectively lol, i think the people who call it out are only pretending to be mad/find it gross. honestly i'm happy for claire because getting with the cool older guy you had a crush on when you were a sophomore must be sooooo satisfying… and to be clear martin also has a girlfriend, she clearly doms the fuck out of him.

Since Phan was the first ship mentioned here (and because I've unfortunately been into them since middle school), thought I should bring the month-late news that they've officially said they're a couple! And have been so since 2009! I'm happy they've finally been honest with it, and that they don't have to beat around the bush anymore. Phil nearly actually died last year and even when retelling the anecdote, Dan was using a pretty emotionally load-bearing "friend" to refer to how upsetting the situation was. I wonder if anyone else here has any experience being in the phandom or knowing any phan shippers (I apologize on their behalf for the cringe).

Oh nona, I'm so glad you posted this! I've only started watching them post-hard launch but I'm already a fan (phan?). I can only imagine how it must have felt for people who've been watching them for years.
Now for my miscellaneous thoughts: I've yet to participate in the phandom (honestly I'm a bit hesitant because of how it's been described in the past + I'd rather lurk), so I've just been watching their videos. I like both of them, but I have to admit I prefer Phil. Dan can be too sarcastic for my liking sometimes. I enjoy watching the videos where they're together, but not really Dan by himself. I'm not crazy about the podcast, either. But I definitely ship them ♥ Also, I have no clue why people thought Phil was this super dominant top. Maybe because he's older and less ""feminine"" than Dan? But Dan is definitely more assertive.

Oh my god the elusive post-Hard Launch phannie (yes that unfortunately is the name for us, and funny story being called a phannie back then used to be lowkey an insult since back then their audience was more normie and being a phannie specifically meant you shipped them) I'm happy to see one of you on here! And I'm glad you are, I feel like it's hard not to ship them when you're already a fujo they're just really cute. And yeah it was quite a shock because they've been soft launching since 2023 and then really ramped it up in the past couple of months (you should see the overcooked livestream they did in July! Dan writes D ♥ P in ketchup on a plate). I really thought they would never say anything ever but I'm glad they proved me wrong! And I don't blame you I'm on tumblr which is the more chill side now and dealing with the gendies + fakebians is annoying. I prefer Phil too, and yeah I agree Dan's older vids especially grind my gears because he seems incapable of chilling out and also because so many of them make me uncomfortable because you can really tell an untreated depressed person made them and it reminds me of my past self. Meanwhile Phil's vids have always been nice to rewatch and I love his weird old arty ones too. And yeah I think the podcast needs to do remove the HL submission segment and for Dan to chill a bit for me to really enjoy it. Unfortunately Dan just needs an adjustment period and I'm sure the producers being in the same room puts him more on edge (how Phil ever managed to convince Dan the control freak to do that whole set up baffles me honestly, the power of luv). I wish he didn't feel the need to overact and just acted like he did a couple months ago on the gaming channel. I think a lot of it was people liking the younger feminine uke trope and ofc since Dan was (sadly) the favorite it's also the phenomenon of wanting your fave to bottom. I think it's funny too since Dan was trying so hard to come off as a typical masc straight dude and often made fun of Phil for not being like that (like him having a purple phone case…). He used to read phanfiction back in the day so that speaks to why he's so aware of it and feels the need to call himself a top with Phil (despite making jokes about bottoming with other men like okay lmao). And yeah he is, but people have always just made him a power bottom or a slutty one to cope, it's funny how things have turned around now. I really liked when they played Undertale and The Mark of Oxin (a video game Phil made at 14)! I haven't really listened to the radio shows but I've seen some of their Lockdown Lads series. LOL, I can't believe Tumblr is actually the chill side now. I went through the subreddit and they complain about Twitter phans, so I guess that's where all the crazies are. Gendies are everywhere on Tumblr so I just block them if they're extra annoying, but usually I ignore them. I actually saw a gif of Dan writing D ♥ P on Tumblr so I know what you're talking about! In regards to UT, I originally thought they only had one video playing it, so I was "saving" it, but after seeing your message and looking it up, I saw that there were TEN VIDEOS THAT WERE ALL AN HOUR LONG! I absolutely love(d) Undertale (and currently Deltarune), so seeing this is like the first pic attached for me.
Outing myself as a young person here, but I hope I have a relationship like theirs one day. I've seen a lot of people in my life do pretty horribly in relationships, so seeing long-term couples like them give me a bit of hope.

I can't get into the podcast either. I also weirdly enough don't care about the couple stuff. Don't get me wrong, happy for them etc, but the reality is that I personally just do not like hearing men (gay or straight, doesn't matter) talk about their sexuality or sex lives. Idk how common that is for fujos, but I like BL because it's fake and doesn't contain any real life men in it. I got into them because of Phil (I also really liked his older more casual videos, and the artsy ones, and how chill and casual he was about being kinda "weird"), and then later because of their gaming channel which is really fun. vinoel is an all time favourite, but i can definitely see the appeal for vinny x mike. their long-running friendship is very sweet, though it's a shame mike had to quit playing with red vox, he seems a bit sadder when he's vinny-deprived. lol.
