>>9572I never read the comics either, but I was reading Stony fanfics back before age of ultron released. And I remember a lot of fanfics that would have author’s notes that mentioned the setting being one (sometimes more) of the comics. Some of them were pretty extensive. I remember a lot of Steve being a whiny bitch baby in the Ultimates Universe which is where I think quite a bit of Top Tony came from. And while I didn’t get an ao3 account until 2018, looking at my earliest history, so many Stony fics I read back then are deleted. I try not to look at my ao3 history because it makes me sad to see so many deleted fics.

Whenever I interact with an artist I'm a fan of on their discord I end up asking myself "I'm not being too much of a parasocial asskisser, right?" Cause if I put myself in that hypothetical situation I'd probably be weirded out if someone was complimenting me too frequently.

I’m not even a Star Wars fan but I can’t stop giggling over slut and mpreg Obi wan, it’s the funniest fandom thing out there to me.

No.9668
>>9665>>9666my two cents on the milf thing is that it probably comes from people wanting to play up the age gap with obikin stuff, but he’s not really cruel or disciplinary enough to fit the “daddy” archetype, so mommy it is.

>>9679That's the funny thing, Jon and Damien actually had a series together "Super Son's" that was one of DC's best selling title in the 2010's, it was loved by old and new fans but for some reason some wokie decided they needed to do serious story, so cause of Time Travel BS Jon is in his late teen's and Damien's still 12 and they can't have a series together, it's fucking retarded
No.9682
>>9678>>9680I’ve just been praying they’ll kill Jon off and create a new Superman son named Don or something.
>>9681Yeah dogman, captain underpants, and diary of a wimpy kid are the best selling west comic/graphic novels. If they really wanna target young adults, they need to change more than just a character’s sexuality and backstory.

>>9678I remember the bi Jon Kent thing and feeling so much pity for capefujos because I was vaguely aware of Jon/Damian and having a ship I like broken up by one of them being canon homo with SOMEBODY ELSE is my fucking nightmare.
>>9681For me its always been "Superman is an IP with zillions of multimedia runs all of which are canon" versus "You can read about Goku starting with episode/volume 1 of Dragon Ball". Modern cape stuff is just official fanficion but not any of the good fanfic!!!

>>9683>For me its always been "Superman is an IP with zillions of multimedia runs all of which are canon" versus "You can read about Goku starting with episode/volume 1 of Dragon Ball".Yeah, same here. I'm vaguely interested in Batman TAS cause I've heard universal praise for it and that's just one series I could watch but I can't imagine getting into batman comics cause I'd have to go out of my way to find out recommendations for certain runs with a specific writer and then track those issues down and I just can't be bothered.

>>9684DC actually does a decent job of keeping self contained works in circulation unlike Marvel, I'd personally rec Long Halloween and anything by Loeb which are available as single volume works.

>>9680God, as a JonDami shipper, I hate everything Bendis (a writer) has done to ruin their relationship, which forced Jon to become boyfriends with an OC character who's also a refugee activist to make some sort of grant statment about how people questioning refugees even a bit are antagonists and should be punched. There was no chemistry in their relationship either, just social commentary. And because of the time travel shenanigans forcing Jon to skip his teens, his character development amounts to literally becoming superman 2.0, which was made even more apparent when Superman had to leave and essentially having a grown-up Jon in charge. He's just a bi Superman, that's it. I hate the wokies so much man.
Anyways, I wish they'd retcon it with some alternate universe shenanigans like they'd done in the past. I want a Jon Kent story, not a current politics first, story second type of comic. Hell, I'll even be fine with Damian dating Flatline or something without Jon possibly in that picture, but please, just redo Jon's godawful development.
(Also, found it funny that DC Comics' official instagram put picrel for these two this Valentine's Day, and it's the only image that has either of them in this post kek. They know what they're doing).
No.9688
>>9687It's so crazy that DC had good writers crafting good, new and interesting status quos for characters (Superman with a kid) and they just let Bendis ruin it for fucking nothing. And then they doubled down on it instead of just retconning it. Bendis HAS to have some 'you can't retcon my shit' clause in his contract or something.
I don't know why they are obsessed with making the most retarded decisions ever. Like recently letting TOM KING of all fucking writers craft Diana's daughter or letting Tim Drake's be bi but also letting his characterization be dictated by one of the worst writers I've ever read in the history of comics. Every choice DC makes is just baffling.
>>9572Tony will always be confirmed uke for me based on that one official 'Civil War was averted in an alternate universe because Steve and genderbent female-Tony fucked and got married instead' comic written by Hickman. Spiritual uke Tony confirmed by Jonathan Hickman.
No.9690
>>9688I heard rumours that while initially Bendis planned all of these horrendous choices, even if he wanted to change it later on, he couldn't change it because of the whole slew of different comic book continuities relying on each other's plot/info way ahead of time and it's basically impossible to revert that decision. But still, it's been years. And I wish they did something by then, but they unfortunately didn't. So maybe you're right on the money on Bendis having some pull, especially if you look at the pattern from his MCU works as well.
God, the early New 52 stuff was so good. The complete revamp did wonders for DC Comics in the early to mid 2010s. It was easy to follow, and writers had more flexibility to improve upon the story early on. But now I feel things are getting too convoluted or is rehashed a thousand times in order to keep a bunch of different comic book series flow together. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed from them in recent times was The Boy Wonder series since it was self-contained and exemplified good character development for Damian while having fantastic art, even if it isn't canon to the main timeline. But everything else…
No.9692
>>9690Man, I don't know what happened to Bendis. I enjoyed his Avengers run despite the Bendis-isms. I was under the impression he could do anything he wanted at DC considering I assumed they paid him a lot to get him from Marvel. It's funny how Superman always get screwed that way (happened with Nu52 Supes too, with Morrison messing with plans of the other Superman writers).
DC did get a bunch of backlash for 'disrespecting continuity' when doing Nu52, but I agree. A bunch of characters got great 'first recommendation' books. It was a real shake up.
The best part of Nu52 was that it consistently put out pretty easy to follow trades. It's so frustrating to try and read older stuff or recommend older stuff to someone and there's like, 1 year between trades so the older ones are expensive, or gaps (like Marvel's Epic Collection, which are decent otherwise), and with recent stuff you can't tell if something is DC All In or Dawn of DC or Infinite Frontier. Not helped by the fact that DC refuses to put omnibuses or that new DC Finest line out digitally for some reason.
I'll have to check out The Boy Wonder! The most recent thing I've read was Dark Crisis Young Justice which was the worst comic I've read in my life. I've been thinking about picking up Batman and Robin: Year One though, I've heard decent things.
No.9693
>>9692I definitely agree that they could do well if they released omnibuses and digitalize more of their issues. I haven't been keeping up with DC's ongoing stuff since I think Robin from 2021/2022? And I'll probably get very lost telling what's happening continuity-wise if I try to jump in now. I feel that there's just not a good way to keep up with the comics if you either don't resort to piracy or the wiki, and that's not something that should be promoted by them. But regardless, it's very hard to do it the proper way. And to top it all off, the writing from many of them is just atrocious. There's barely anything keeping me coming back.
Anyways, The Boy Wonder is not without its faults. God knows how much I rolled my eyes on the "capitalism bad" comment that came and went. But overall, really solid and criminally underrated what-if story with very unique art.
>Batman and Robin: Year OneDamn, I should do that as well. I like Batman and Robin stuff.

>>9686Be honest, nona, did you ship HawkAsh, TallJake, Ravenpaw x Barley, or Scourge x Bone?
I am not a furry, but I did spend a significant portion of my childhood pretending to be a Warrior Cat. I still occasionally engage with older parts of the series, although I haven't read any of the newer books. No.9695
>>9694>>9686NTA but also used to love them, I outgrew/got bored when Power of Three was done but I have fond memories of that and Gahoole. I never actively shipped Warriors but Ravenpaw/Barely is cute.

Guys writing about female nerd characters is so weird since instead of writing about character A getting assfucked and impregnated with character B’s butt baby they have them writing about male autism shit like power scaling and evil sewer lizards.

>>9699I like galge and eroge more than otome but if I produce fanworks of them it's still m/m.
I always like Genshiken's depictions of female otaku because they seemed much more realistic, varied, and relatable as opposed to Watamote, Oreimo, Eromanga, ect. Which are all good series but the female otaku reps just feel like wish fulfillment, except for best girl Saori.

But I do prefer BL games. And anime depictions of female otaku definitely just write them as male otaku with tits.

I dunno why I continue using KF, every post is full of unfunny jokes, falling for obvious bait and infighters and sperging about unrelated stuff from the cow. I do enjoy their culture of archiving everything but still, the userbase is so annoying, why do I still use it.

>>9700I'm a fightscenefag (the more homoerotic the better) and do like imagining how a fight between two characters would be like but the usual endless fanboy discussion of 'no but Goku is stronger' is just boring. I'd rather discuss what the scene could be like and how it would arrive at the outcome, or different outcomes depending on who wins.
No.9715
>>9709I've lurked there for an embarrassing amount of time (I mean close to 10 years), and I still do. Never made an account because I have nothing to contribute, and I especially don't want to make one now because of how weird the users are. It's a shame because I like a lot of their threads in theory, but the majority of their users feel like cows themselves now.
>>9710>either the userbase got more obnoxious I'm pretty confident it's this one. A lot of the older accounts that I recognize from a long time ago still have occasionally normal opinions. However, it really sours the mood when someone derails the entire thread to talk about something irrelevant. As a Fujochan-adjacent example, in the thread about that loli vtuber who recently got doxed, one guy brought up how she's probably a fujo (this came out of nowhere because most of the stuff she has watched on MAL has been more loli anime-related), and then there was an entire derail about how she gives off the vibe of being one. There's more than enough shit to talk about, so I don't understand why some users feel the need to write fanfiction about cows.
