There's a trap thread on /ex/, no?
No.3947
>>3944Ruka's route is a fucking crime imagine making his entire motivation thats he's so fucking gay he wishes he was a girl so that Okabe would love him
and then magicing away his problem by turning him into a woman in a parallel universe. Wtf is that messaging and what a limp wrosted way of solving a characters internal struggle.Great VN sad it doesn't have an actual gay route.
I used to really like trap characters in high school especially the concept of a man being effectively tricked into being gay and having a little panic over that before accepting he does love the guy. Unfortunately I've come to realize almost all these characters do have a very male fanbase who is only interest in porn, very sad. The characters are still cute imo, especially if they are unambiguously male in design (no hips/curves), but it feels like walking through a minefield to find art for them.
What draws you guys to these characters is it just a coincidence or if a trap is in the show do you instantly like him?

>>3947nothing pisses me off more than having a trap route just to involve magic or time travel bullshit to make a homo character/ship straight, like i've never seen lewd fanart of Ruka or Jun from Happiness as a girl and the appeal of the character is that they're not really a girl, the whole gimmick with Ruka is that they're the ideal "woman" but they're a guy, having the gay route not be gay at all is such a cop out

>>3946When it comes to Felix, people always pair him with Subaru in a really shallow sort of way and treat him as a generic shallow trap (no offense), but I wish there was more discussion of him in a more serious light.
Canonically, his main love interest is definitely Crusch, but there is something there about his feeling with Fourier, (crown prince that died before the story from a mysterious disease that wiped out the entire royal family despite Felix doing everything he could to save him) and I think you can do something a bit more in character with his passive aggressive relationship with Subaru, he doesn't like him because Subaru is so weak and reckless, but still mans up and becomes a knight, something Felix completely gave up on for himself because his puberty was stunted from neglect and abuse. It's also mentioned by Crusch that Subaru is similar to Fourier in attitude and that maybe that's one way why Felix doesn't like him.
It feels like such a waste, especially with the IF Pride route where he
gets mindbroken after the erasure of Crusch and (evil) Subaru ends up convincing him that the hole where the person he loved and worshipped was him all along. Nobody does anything with that, I don't know why.

Tristan is too cute, while I like the pictures shipping him with Lancelot, recently I've been getting an interest in shipping him with Chion, too bad it's very rare in this fandom,
I'm not even into pseudo-incest yaoi but I love the relationship between those 2.>>3947>What draws you guys to these characters is it just a coincidence or if a trap is in the show do you instantly like him?The latter, I just love crossdressing in general, kek. It's nice to look at.

>>4032Agreed, I used to think they were cool for their androgyny, when now they are usually just waifus with a "boy" punchline
I don't anticipate mainstream traps returning to tastefully androgynous boys, so I'm hoping on a breakthrough in traps that act extremely macho
Inosuke isn't really a trap, but he's along the lines of what I would like traps to be more like! The idea of someone looking exactly like an anime girl but being a gruff and tough macho man on the inside is hilarious and fits right into gap moe appeal

>>5752Yeah I'd call the FGO version that. I never thought much about the real version. From scanning the wikipedia page it sounds like the real person was a dude with some sort of hormonal disorder who was ahead of his time with gendie feelings. I agree with
>>5753 in that D'eon didn't stand out to me at all so I never developed the attachment that I have to Astolfo.
No.5755
>>5752>>5753 Sucks FGO d'Eon and his 2006 Le Chevalier d'Eon anime had the blandest personality who got overshadowed by others who were way more interesting, most people either see him as Astolfo's inferior trap or tragic troon by whiny sjw woketards. He deserves better.
Historical d'Eon was a bit eccentric, likeable asshole but went bitter and grumpy with midlife crisis when he got older.
Tumblr wokes claimed him as troon with few sources but I don't trust anything on tumblr, tumblrites tend to be holier-than-thou and smartasses who accused everything yada yada-phobic if anyone disagree with them.
No.5757
>>5755Then we have smartass schizo tumblrite who insisted d'Eon is 'transwoman' due to semi-autobiography 'La Pucelle de Tonnerre' and few sources. She shit-talked all d'Eon historians and boasting herself as superior.
Sjw Troon-obsessed Woketard like her are why nobody cares for d'Eon, only troons did.
I miss the day when d'Eon is simply depicted as a man with girly features, no troon shit.
No.5795
>>5755I recall really liking the (far wackier) *manga* Le Chevalier d'Eon, but I don't think I ever finished the anime.
>>5757He was just a guy with a hormonal disorder, wasn't he? Also, apropro nothing, but man is this a perfect example of grating tumblr speech.
>cool cool cool that's great history research actually fantastic definitely a reliable sourceIf it were socially acceptable to call people retards on tumblr the world would be a better place. I've got my own 'historical figure that pop history misinterprets', but I just ignore idiots (and undo edits to his wiki page lmao).

To bring up another maligned Fate character, does anyone else get mad when people try to argue Astolfo is nonbinary or trans because of that one thing in the Apocrypha LN where his gender is referred to as a "secret" (which also conveniently ignores later official material referring to him as a male)? There was also that stupid tumblr post that got circulated years ago that led to a bunch of braindead idiots arguing about how calling Astolfo a "he" is transphobic or whatever. It's always people who haven't engaged with the series at all making these arguments, obviously.
>>5752Late reply, but yes for sure regarding the FGO version. The Agartha chapter basically treats him as a male, as do some other in-game events (picrel is a CE from the Chaldea Boys collection, although I wouldn't consider that sufficient proof on its own). There are a lot of trap characters in FGO, and as other anons stated, he doesn't do much to stand out from the crowd.
>>5757I hate the way a lot of people effectively write fanfiction about historical figures, and then try to pass it off as actual historical research. I don't know enough about French history to have an opinion on d'Eon, but it's a common thing I've noticed when reading about historical periods I DO know well.
No.5944
>>5757 I saw few French videos on YouTube depicting d'Eon as a man but not sure if it's still available.
And I saw a page of French Comic featuring d'Eon, judging from the page few men were drawn by his androgynous looks and yeah, he initially portrayed as a man. I don't know French though.
