I'm surprised people were still using Mangadex after they got like a third of their library deleted from a DMCA. Also,

Same, I stopped using it when they put the comments on a separate page from the chapters which was right after or during that whole deletion thing.
>the piracy site cares about the law
This is what gets me. They’re already actually committing a crime. Lolisho isn’t even a crime in most countries.

>which was right after or during that whole deletion thing.
That happened years before the DMCA removals. It was when they had to recode the website because someone accessed the user database. Comments didn't exist for a while and then they just integrated the forum in as comments.

The removal of lolisho is likely because they're begging for advertisers at the moment.

Twitter trending sent me this. They deleted these tweets after getting dogpiled in QRTs. According to twitter Viz has two lead editors, one of them is a middle age woman who's been handling the SuBLime socmed for a decade now and has always been rude to people even in person at cons. Some think she's comparing the sales of BL to Jump titles. Pretty funny given an article about fujoshi buying more frequently came out the day before and all the other publishers have been rushing to snatch up gay titles. Supposedly Jnovel staff are still seething about 7Seas getting novels on so many store shelves.

Anyway, there's some new-ish publisher who has announced licensing 12 BL. No titles just yet but they currently do a mixture of Korean otome isekai and a couple manga. They mentioned danmei too.

>>5659
I've had a look and it's very easy to screencap pages by holding shift when you rightclick. However all the titles I hadn't read before and tried to check out are excluded from the pass subscription, so you have to pay $2 a chapter when you don't know if it's any good. So much of their library is unremarkable smut and/or has a stupidly straight forward title attached (eg. "Having Sex With a Kinky Guy"), it's hard to tell what might be worth saving.

Kinda unrelated but I can't stand that SuBLime makes all of their spines look the same, it's so boring especially juxtaposed with my much prettier Seven Seas and Kuma manga
Not my pic, but just why!? They keep the same front and back covers!!!

I saw someone say BL was actually bringing the most sales after Jump stuff. I think they said it was Viz themselves who posted about that recently.

Saging because offtopic for the thread, but this drama seems to have continued into theories that Viz spent all their money on the Kingdom license, because they just announced like five cookbooks, an omnibus reprint, and one shoujo. They've told people they can't afford reprints of other series at the moment too. It'll be fun to see if Kingdom works out for them, because they're going to need fujos on their side for that and oops, just burnt some fingers there.

I've just seen a second new publisher claiming they have BL licenses incoming, but I think they'll be all manwha.

Real question, how is the BL industry in your respective countries? In France it's pretty decent and we often get recent releases but whenever I check new releases on Taifu Comics' or Hana Editions' twitter accounts nowadays I feel out of touch. They mostly release cutesy or omegaverse one shots and BL series take a long time to have new volumes. It's easier to get physical copies than try to buy digital copies of BL manga here unless I'm missing something. Hana Editions fucked up with the digital release of Fangs, which the Japanese publishing company didn't agree to in the first place so now Taifu bought the rights to publish it instead. I will say, the only major issue is that older releases are out of print besides major ones like Junjou Romantica, Acid Town, Viewfinder, etc. and even then it's only because these ones are ongoing series or ended not long ago. And for some reason many of the books I bought and read were sometimes full of typos. It seems like it's the reverse in the US when it comes to digital copies, but I also saw some anons talking about one publishing company selling digital copies shutting down not too long ago. How about other countries?

that’s true but I was also commenting on the popularity of her work to show that age gaps are still popular with fujo audiences. it’s also true that wholesome BL is more common but I disagree with the notion that problematic BL isn’t still popular. there’s just more variety. most of the popular older titles I can think of were ‘cutesy drama with slight “problematic” elements’ so it’s not like wholesome works haven’t always been popular. I think it’s mainly BL’s growing popularity with general audiences that make authors feel like every title should appeal to a general audience but that shouldn’t be the case. there will always be audiences for “problematic” BL

Before the anime people were making parodies of the Nakamura cover with whatever pairings they wanted. When they found out the original was BL they acted disappointed and called it gross, sent some "fujos are fetishizing degens" stuff round. I don't think many in the west knew about Syundei's previous works. When I looked at some of the accounts who sent inflammatory tweets in this incident a number of them had Kpop girls as their pfps and didn't seem to post about anime/manga on their accounts, just Kpop and actors. So I doubt they knew about any of Syundei's stuff before the anime aired.

people were weird with KS while it was still being released. apart from the basic “evil fetishizer rape abuse” complaint there were also these type of “fans” that vehemently denied that it was a BL at all. they’d say it was only horror, as if horror and BL can’t exist together. to them BL was a shallow sex/romance genre and any BL they liked akshually wasn’t a BL at all. they would do this for a lot of different series an still do though nowadays it’s less common

Killing Stalking was widely hated at the time it came out for being "problematic." At the time it first took off, I was running a BL guro blog on Tumblr. I reblogged a cute edit of Sang Woo one day, just a BW picture of him that looked kind of aesthetic.
Immediately after, one of my mutuals unfollowed me and posted a rant about how they don't care who you are, if you ever post KS then you're scum and getting unfollowed immediately. Just like a day before they were liking a post of mine of a guy fucking a severed head, but somehow a sfw picture of Sang Woo was their limit.
Half of these people don't actually care about the dark themes of these works. They just want to hate it because it's trendy to do so.
